May is Mental Health Month — Let’s Be There for Each Other
Hey Neighbors,
May is Mental Health Month, a reminder that taking care of ourselves and each other goes far beyond the occasional check-in. It’s about community, connection, and showing up in the little everyday ways that matter most.
Part of why we started Post & Pour was to build a true “third place”, a space that’s not home, not work, but something just as essential. Research shows that third places—like coffee shops, bookstores, parks, and barbershops—play a powerful role in our emotional and mental well-being. They foster connection, reduce loneliness, offer routine and comfort, and give us somewhere to belong, without the pressure to perform or pretend. Just a place to be. And in a world that often feels fast and fractured, that kind of space is more than nice, it’s necessary.
We’re not tooting our own horn here. There are so many amazing third places in and around Bonney Lake, and every one of them is doing the important work of holding space for people to show up just as they are.
This month, let’s remind each other: It’s okay to not be okay. And it’s even more than okay to talk about it.
So, if you’re feeling strong right now, check in on someone who might not be. Invite them out for a coffee, a walk, a moment. And if you’re the one struggling, please reach out. Ask for help. You are never alone.
Because no one makes it through life alone. We need each other—not just to survive, but to truly thrive. We can only get through this life together.
